Making Beds
Fitted sheets make beds pretty easy to make. Simply lay the sheet over
the mattress and pull the cupped corners over the mattress. Getting that
first corner on snuggly is important, though. I put my left hand into the
cup and match the corner of the mattress with the corner of the sheet. Then
I use my other hand to pull the elastic down and get it under the mattress.
Always do the other top corner next. I always start with the head of the
bed, smoothing out wrinkles as I work and then I pull the sheet tight before
I make the bottom corners.
The top sheet goes on so that the fancy edge shows after you turn it over
the blanket, so it will seem as if you are putting the sheet on upside down.
If you have folded the sheet right, you will have a sharp crease down the
center. Simply put the sheet on so the top edge lies at the top of the mattress
and the crease is in the center. Smooth the sheet out so it lies flat and
the edges hang over neatly. If you are using a blanket, it is easiest to
put it on now. The top edge of the blanket should be about five to six inches
from the top edge of the mattress and even on both sides. Fold the top edge
of the sheet over the top edge of the blanket. If you have it right, the
fancy hem or pretty edge should be showing now.
Making smooth corners at the bottom is not that hard. Print this Making

Fluff pillows once they are in the pillow cases and smooth the edges out
so they lie flat. If you use a bedspread that covers the pillows, put it
on so that the side and bottom edges are even and then turn back the top
edge so about 2/3 of the pillow space is exposed. Put the pillows in place,
pull up the edge of the spread and tuck in at the head of the bed, then
smooth the fold under the front edge of the pillows until all is smooth.
If you have
a comforter, just smooth it out and make sure all the edges are even. Lay
pillows on nicely.
