A Website for people who need Mom's help
I
started cooking for the family when I was nine years old, and I don't mean
heating up a can of soup. I have vivid memories of making a pot roast at
that age. I can't remember not being able to cook, sew, do laundry and generally
take care of the house.
When I was growing up, Saturday morning was the time in our house for CLEANING. There were no lazy mornings of cartoons. As much as I hated it then, I sure did learn a lot. My mother, my grandmothers and even great grandmothers all were hard-working homemakers who valued thrift, practicality, and honesty. These traits were passed on to me and are reflected in my advice.
Is there more than one way to fold a towel? Well of course there is, though when I was growing up, there was only one way, my mother's way, the RIGHT way. My methods come from how I was taught and from my own experience.
Some notes about this site
Most of the
material on this site came from a little book I wrote for my children, Kevin
and Laura, to help them be more independent when they left home. They are
both married now, and have daughters, but still, there are times they call
home to say, "hey, Mom, how do you....?" I hope you will find
this site helpful as well. As with any advice, use your own common sense
in its application.
